The year is almost over, and so the Weekend TODAY team took a look back at some of the many highlights of the year, from a vodka tour in Sochi to dancing on Broadway, running a marathon and jamming with The Roots.

1. The Sochi Olympics: Vodka and curling

Lester Holt covered the 2014 Winter Olympics live from Sochi. And of course, no trip to Russia would be complete without a vodka tasting tour, which Lester was kind enough to take on for TODAY.

And even though the other Weekend TODAY anchors remained in New York City, they still had plenty of Olympic fun. Erica Hill, Dylan Dreyer and Jenna Wolfe donned their Team USA sweaters on the Rockefeller Center Ice Rink and learned how to curl with the help of 2012 U.S. National Team Champion Dean Gemmell.

2. Giving back, and giving meals

The Weekend TODAY team, and the entire TODAY team, took part in the annual "food drive on two wheels" known as Cranksgiving, taking on a scavenger hunt to buy specific items for local food pantries and homeless shelters.

3. Saying goodbye (sort of) to Jenna Wolfe

When TODAY's Jenna Wolfe was named our first health and lifestyle correspondent, she unfortunately had to leave the Weekend TODAY team, full time. While Jenna's still with the TODAY family, the Weekend team took some time to remember some of their best times (and hardest workouts) with Jenna over the years.

5. Welcome, Sheinelle Jones!

Weekend TODAY welcomed its newest family member, Sheinelle Jones, this October. And on her first weekend with TODAY as a news anchor, Sheinelle shared with us her family, her passion for dance and how it was her dream to work for NBC since she was a little girl.

6. Dancing on Broadway

Bouncing right into her TODAY job, Sheinelle embraced her love of dance and took a stab at learning some Broadway choreography. Taking us on a tour of the revival of "On the Town," Sheinelle held her own with some of Broadway's finest.

6. Bringing cooking to another level

While the TODAY team brings dozens of amazing chefs into Studio 1A, Erica and Dylan ventured out to Benihana, where they took on the restaurant's "Be the Chef" program to become hibachi masters.

8. Jamming with The Roots

Brian Williams might be slow jamming the news, but Lester took the fun on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" a step further, playing the bass with The Roots.

9. Running a marathon

Erica trained like a champion this year for the New York City Marathon, running in memory of her father, raising money for cancer research, and finishing the marathon in 4 hours and 47 minutes.

See you in 2015!
