The first Dutch king in 123 years was inaugurated on April 30, and the royal community showed up in style to honor their new monarch, King Willem-Alexander.
After Queen Beatrix’s formal abdication on Tuesday, which was followed by an official announcement to cheering crowds from the palace balcony, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and a bevy of royal guests attended a coronation ceremony in Amsterdam’s Nieuwe Kerk church. The newly-appointed queen wore a royal blue ensemble with a diamond-encrusted tiara — and the couple’s daughters dressed to match.
While Queen Maxima made not one — but two — wardrobe changes for the ceremonies, the guests were no slouches either: They arrived in a colorful parade of hats, gowns and sashes. Check out more of their inauguration day looks below:
