Rapper Master P and his brother were ordered to stand trial Monday on weapons charges stemming from their arrest last year after police said they found loaded handguns in their car.

Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, and his brother Vyshonn Miller, also a rapper who uses the stage name Silkk the Shocker, each face one count of carrying an unregistered and loaded gun.

Superior Court Judge Joseph Biderman said there was enough evidence for both men, who are free on bail, to stand trial. Each faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison if convicted.

Master P is the father of teen rap star Lil’ Romeo, and the two appeared in the Nickelodeon TV show “Romeo!”

The brothers were arrested Jan. 27, 2005, after University of California at Los Angeles police pulled them over. Prosecutors say the officers noticed a handgun under the driver’s seat of the car, which was being driven by Vyshonn Miller.

Police said they found another handgun on the passenger seat, where Master P was sitting.
