Despite her tears and pleas, the public's reaction was not entirely forgiving. Some did accept Deen's remorse, writing on Twitter that they were inclined to "give her a break." Others, however, claimed she showed a "poor defense," and that they "wanted to feel sorry for her but just couldn't."
