They may no longer be in the White House together, but the friendship between Barack Obama and Joe Biden remains as strong as ever.

Biden wished the former president a happy 56th birthday on Friday with a heartwarming message and a throwback photo of the two sharing a laugh.

"Your service has been a great gift to the country, and your friendship and brotherhood are a great gift to me,'' Biden wrote.

Former first lady Michelle Obama also had some birthday wishes for her "phenomenal" husband of 24 years.

President Bill Clinton also chimed in, sending Obama birthday wish while also poking a little fun at himself in the process.

"Happy Birthday Barack Obama! Hope you get some balloons. I love a good ballon. #GBD44," he wrote.

Biden's birthday photo for Obama this year was a little less tongue-in-cheek than last year's picture, which featured a pair of friendship bracelets in their names that officially sealed their bromance.

The two have shared plenty of light-hearted moments over the years, like showing off their jogging skills in the White House for Michelle's "Let's Move!" program or celebrating National High Five Day.

Biden also celebrated joining Instagram in 2014 with a presidential selfie.

The two have also shared plenty of emotional moments, like Biden wiping away tears as Obama presented him with the presidential Medal of Freedom, or when the two celebrating the 2015 Supreme Court ruling that gay marriage is a constitutional right.

Happy Birthday Obama!
