Two of Lil Wayne's backup dancers have been suspended by the hip-hop star and won't perform at Wednesday night's show in Hartford, Conn.

Jennifer Slaughter, 24, and Della Hamby, 26, are accused of assaulting a waitress at P.F. Chang's restaurant at the WestFarms Mall in West Hartford Sunday. The two women appeared in court to face assault charges Wednesday.

Slaughter and Hamby, along with another customer, had an argument over splitting their check three ways, according to police. The waitress told the women they should have made the request at the beginning of their meal. She ended up splitting the bill, the manager said, and the women paid for their meal.

But they returned a short time later for a cell phone one of them left behind, and attacked the waitress, police said.

In court Wednesday, a judge referred Slaughter and Hamby's cases for mediation.

The two perform as backup dancers for Lil Wayne, and were in Connecticut ahead of the hip-hop star's Wednesday show at the Comcast Theater in Hartford. Slaughter and Hamby have been suspended by the tour, and will not perform, according to their attorney, James Sulick.

"They are wonderful women and are very upset about what happened," Sulick said.
