A reporter at an Albuquerque television station is dead after suffering complications from surgery.

KOB-TV announced Sunday that 30-year-old Sharon Erickson died Saturday evening at an Albuquerque hospital.

Station officials say she had complications from surgery done earlier this week, but gave no other details.

Erickson had been at KOB since January and was a reporter and fill-in anchor.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 News Director Laurie Passman says Erickson was "a dedicated reporter and a rising star who loved covering news" in the Albuquerque community.

Before coming to KOB, the University of Texas graduate worked as a producer and reporter at KTBS in Shreveport, La., and as a reporter at KNOE in Monroe, La.

A list of Erickson's survivors isn't immediately available and KOB says her funeral plans are pending.
