So much for the long, hot summer...

The respective relationships of Jesse James, Kristin Cavallari and Hugh Hefner have all cooled ; each's planned trip down the aisle iced.

Should a red-flag warning be issued to other celebrity couples? Are these the danger months for grooms- and brides-to-be?

RELATED: And the five most notorious broken engagements are...?

For starters, summers are obviously fine times for weddings, as any June bride or Kim Kardashian (coming soon!) could confirm. More I-dos occur from June-August than any other time of year.

As for the I-don'ts, or, rather, the nah-I'm-not-gonnas...

James, Cavallari and Hefner may be relieved to learn they were not doomed to turn into solo acts once Memorial Day hit. Wedding planners contacted by Conspiracy Corner say there is no rhyme or reason to the broken engagement, no "bad" month to be a fiance.

"I've had two cancelled since I started almost three years ago, one in January and one in May," Erika Unbehaun, a London-based wedding planner, said via email. "...I truly believe this can happen anytime of the year."

Wedding guru David Tutera, host of "My Fair Wedding," agreed: The calendar had nothing to do with the recent rash of celebrity uncouplings.

Old-fashioned, ordinary, universal jitters probably did.

"Planning a wedding can bring out a lot of stress in a relationship, no matter who you are or who you are marrying," Tutera said in an email. "This is why many celebrity couples call off their engagement, as they realize if they can't handle the stress now, then they wouldn't be able to handle the bigger stresses that come about in marriage."

The takeaway?

Celebrities are people, too. They're not immune from the pressures of hiring a DJ.

Or of having the aisle runner pulled out from under them at any time.
