Introducing the #unselfie: Photos celebrate unselfish acts

Easter #Unselfie at Camp Sunshine.

Selfies are so prevalent these days that even President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have gotten into the self-portrait action.

But one Atlanta television station hopes to start another trend, the "unselfie." NBC affiliate WXIA is seeking out photos of people during unselfish moments, asking viewers to send in pictures of volunteer work, or any other effort to help improve their community.

Photos that have streamed in showing #unselfie moments include people at a bake sale fundraiser for disabled children, individuals handing out blankets to the homeless or working at a soup kitchen, and high school students spending their spring break volunteering in Nicaragua.

Check out some of the images that have been submitted so far:

Sylvia Allen, A.G. Rhodes Health & Rehab resident, and Lisa Feiber, member of the Pine Tree Garden Club in Buckhead, plant colorful summer annuals in terra cotta pots on the front patio of A.G. Rhodes' Wesley Woods location. As part of A.G. Rhodes' Horticultural Therapy Program, residents filled the pots with flowers and herbs that engage the senses through touch, sight and smell.

Camp Wannaklot Volunteers #Unselfie - Everyone gets to be a kid at camp! Fresh air, fishing, horseback riding, archery and more. Camp volunteers donate up to 100 hours and come home exhausted from a week filled with fun and laughter. Volunteering at camp is rewarding because you spend quality time with children, teens and families impacted by bleeding disorders.
