Ind. wines win 223 medals in Indy wine competition

An Indiana wine took home a major trophy for the second year in a row at the Indy International Wine Competition.

Huber Orchard & Winery's 2010 Catawba Rosé was named best international rosé wine of the year during the contest at Purdue University. The southern Indiana winery also won the Governor's Cup as the Indiana winery of the year.

Purdue says Indiana wines took home 54 golds and 223 total medals during the recent competition. It drew nearly 2,500 wines from 38 states and 15 countries.

Oregon's Wilamette Valley Vineyards received the trophy for wine of the year for its 2009 Riesling.

The award for winery of the year went to E&J Gallo Winery of Modesto, Calif., for the second straight year.
