There were many serious issues that needed debating by the Republican presidential candidates on Wednesday night. And there was one very unserious issue the TV audience wanted addressed.
Who was the chisel-cheeked, intense hot guy sitting behind CNN anchor and debate moderator Jake Tapper?
TODAY has confirmed this important, burning news and can now reveal that his name is Greg Caruso. He's a 24-year-old son of the California real estate developer who founded Caruso Affiliated, which is one of the biggest private real estate companies in the U.S.
"It’s pretty hilarious," Caruso told CNN. "Social media can focus on some guy at the debate instead of the debate."
A former high school football star, Caruso graduated with a cinematic degree from the University of Southern California. He's got a documentary that he directed under his belt ("Making the American Man") and says on his Vimeo page, "I have been fortunate enough to travel a lot in my life with my family and feel I have a global appreciation for art, architecture, culture, and film in general. ... I plan to create relatable but unique, provocative but real, and stylized but refined films that positively inspire people in a meaningful way."
We think he's already inspiring people in a meaningful way.
Though not everybody is impressed.
Well, this is why we have chocolate and vanilla, and republican and democrat.
But while Caruso was the best part of the debate for many viewers, as he told CNN, he had his own high points: "I think out of everyone, (Bush) improved the most from the first debate. Carly Fiorina did a great job and was in her element. That was the highlight of the debate to watch her. She held her own."
As did Caruso.
