"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" has set new records for the highest box office earnings by a movie on its opening day and opening week.
The final Harry Potter movie opened in a record 753 screens across the nation and took 7.02 million Australian dollars (US$7.42 million) on its first day of release last Wednesday.
It beat the 2003 opening day record set by "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King," which had grossed A$5.28 million.
The last adventure of the boy wizard has now grossed A$29.3 million in its opening week, beating the A$22.02 million record set by "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" in 2009.
