LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Two time Oscar nominee Woody Harrelson has been cast as Steve Schmidt, John McCain's senior campaign strategist and advisor in HBO's upcoming political film, "Game Change."

HBO Films and Everyman Pictures' "Game Change" follows McCain's 2008 presidential campaign, from his controversial selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate to their ultimate defeat in the general election.

Earlier this week, Ed Harris nabbed the role of presidential candidate McCain; Julianne Moore is already on board to play former Alaska governor Palin.

The telefilm is based on the bestselling book of the same name by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin. It will be directed by Jay Roach, with a script from Danny Strong. The pair previously collaborated on HBO's Emmy-winning film "Recount," which chronicled the 2000 presidential election debacle.
