Buzzy video: Gymnast wins gold, then is 'attacked by a bee' on podium

Winning a gold medal must taste as sweet as honey, but things got a little too close for comfort for gymnast Simone Biles at a recent competition. The U.S. athlete was standing on the podium with a bouquet after winning her all-around gold medal at the 2014 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. See what happened next:


With the medal around her neck, Biles beamed as she was graced with a bouquet of flowers. But then a bee flew off the flowers and began buzzing around the podium, causing her to jump off and drop her bouquet on the ground. "She's being attacked by a bee now," the announcer is heard saying in the clip.

The bee then proceeded to frighten the bronze medal winner. When it finally buzzed off, the three medalists breathed a sigh of relief and enjoyed their place on the podium.

Biles took to Twitter afterward to recount the buzzy incident:
