It was a bad day all around for the O'Neal family yesterday.

Just hours after brother Redmond O'Neal was busted for heroin possession, Griffin O'Neal was involved in a head-on car crash that sent him to the hospital.

We know Redmond's still in jail awaiting a court hearing tomorrow. But how is Griffin following his San Diego smashup?

MORE: Redmond's a longtime troublemaker

The 46-year-old son of Ryan O'Neal was behind the wheel of his car when he veered into oncoming traffic and struck another car around 1 p.m., according to San Diego Police Sgt. David Jennings

Griffin O'Neal, who complained of pain following the accident, and an unidentified second person were taken to Palomar Medical Center. He was listed in stable condition before being released in the evening, said hospital spokeswoman Bobette Brown.

The condition of the other driver is not known.

Firefighters who responded to the scene said one of the two crash victims who received medical help had been trapped inside the car but was freed within 10 minutes of help arriving.

So far there has been no comment from father Ryan on either Griffin's crash or the arrest of Redmond, 26, who was busted for drug possession in Santa Monica after he ran a red light and cops found heroin and marijuana in the car.
