According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, pet products are a $34 billion industry. Sixty-two percent of all households own pets, and pet owners are expected to spend approximately $5 billion on gifts this holiday season. Wondering what to get your favorite pet or owner? Well, fear not. Pet expert Andrea Arden was invited to appear on "Today" to share some suggestions for our best friends. Here's more on the gifts she mentioned on the show:

The basics: (The "can't-go-wrong" gifts)
These gifts can be found in pretty much any pet store — from the specialty shops to the larger chains like Petco — virtually everyone has access to these. They are also affordable.

Nothing is too good for my Fido:
Andrea Levine jewelry for dogs. these are leashes and collars that are studded with real diamonds. There are also dog- and cat-inspired accessories to match for the owners, including bone-shaped earrings, a belt to match a leash, bracelets with charms. The prices vary but are between $300 for a charm to over $5,000 for the diamond studded collars.($300 - $5,000 at andrealevinejewelry.com)

Bedding:
A very popular item for pet owners these days. We feature a brass bed for dogs. ($50 at petmate.com)

Practical gift: The Fauna Sauna. This is therapy for the older pet, and can really improve the health of a sick animal as well as warmth and comfort. It is the equivalent of a heating pad for a human, and can help humans save money for drugs for arthritis for their pet. This type of thing has been used for years for humans and now it's available for your pet! ($495 at faunasauna.com)

The gift that gives back: (The best kind of gift)
Most of us are aware that the holidays may not be the best time to bring a pet into the your home due to how busy and chaotic this time can be. But a great option is giving an adoption certificate like this one from the Mayor's Alliance of New York. It comes with a certificate and a little stuffed animal. ($75 - $120 animalalliancenyc.org)

Another option is a book called "Tails of Devotion" that is about the bonds of pets and their people. It contains letters written to pets from owners by people like Robin Williams and Amy Tan. 100 percent of the proceeds go to animal charities. ($20at tailsofdevotion.com)

Gifts for the owners:  These will immortalize your pets forever...First we have stuffed animals that are custom made for your cat or dog. You just send in a photo of your pet to Heidi and company. (heidiandco.com) And she will make a life-like stuffed replica. These are also pricier, starting at $500. They also take about 3-6 months to make. ($500 - approximately at heidiandco.com)

A photographic portrait of your best friend for your walls. Amanda Jones will photograph them and frame them for you for your walls. ($1,100 amandajones.com)

Gifts for the active pet owners and pets:
Doggie driver
— a golf club that has a tennis ball attached. When you swing you throw the tennis ball for your dog to fetch. ($25 at hyperproducts.com)

Snack shotz: These are smaller devices that shoot out snacks from a gun.($12 at dogmatic.com)
