Former CIA operative Valerie Plame will co-author a fiction spy series of books with a female undercover espionage operative as the central character, Penguin books said on Monday.
Plame, whose real life global espionage tale has already been depicted in last year's Hollywood film, "Fair Game," which was based on her memoirs, will write a "new international suspense series" with mystery author Sarah Lovett, Penguin said in a statement.
Plame's cover as a CIA operative was blown by the Bush administration in 2003 when her husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, publicly challenged the Bush Administration's case for war in Iraq.
That ended her career and endangered informants in Iraq who had provided intelligence on Saddam Hussein's weapons program. Plame became the center of a firestorm of controversy that included a criminal conviction of a key White House staff member.
The first book in the as yet untitled series will be published in the United States and Canada next year by publisher David Rosenthal. Rosenthal, a former publisher at CBS Corp's Simon & Schuster imprint, launched his own imprint at Pearson PLC's Penguin Group USA last year.
