Singer El DeBarge has been cleared of drug possession charges due to lack of evidence, according to TMZ.
The "Rhythm of the Night" singer was arrested early this week, his third drug arrest since 2001. The arrest was for felony possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and DeBarge was released on $30,000 bail, said Rolling Stone.
L.A. District Attorney documents said that DeBarge and another man were talking on the street, and police decided to search them without giving a reason why.
The police searched the area and came up with nothing, TMZ reported, and then located a bag of rock cocaine under a nearby car. The other man said he was there to purchase the drug from DeBarge, who denied it.
Without enough evidence, the charges were dropped against DeBarge.
