"Scream" actor David Arquette was involved in a car crash on Friday and taken to a hospital, but was "okay and is getting treatment," his spokeswoman said.

Arquette, 39, the estranged husband of former "Friends" star Courteney Cox, was driving in the West Hollywood community of Los Angeles when his car smashed into another automobile, celebrity website TMZ.com said.

TMZ ran photos of the actor lying on the grass near the street, then being taken by stretcher to an ambulance. No injuries were visible in the pictures.

Arquette and Cox announced a trial separation in October after 11 years of marriage. In January Arquette spent a month in rehab, reportedly for alcohol issues and depression.

Arquette is best known for his role on the horror film franchise "Scream", where he first met Cox. The fourth movie, "Scream 4" is due to released in the U.S. on April 15.
