Everyone has one piece of clothing they can’t live without. No matter how old, tattered or out-dated. So whether it’s a weathered pair of shoes or a dress that holds great memories, find out how to use it, not lose it. Carson Kressley, a clothing designer and member of the TV show “Queer Eye,” was invited on TODAY to show the cast how to wear their old favorites. He also shares some of his tips on how you can freshen up your favorite items of clothing and wear them with style.

From your favorite old tee to that lucky pair of jeans that make you feel great no matter what, clothes are more than mere items — they’re articles of affection that most women have long-lasting relationships with.  Carson Kressley shares tips for women everywhere to honor their favorite clothes with a little TLC and help freshen them up with style.

  • Deep, Dark Denim: Whether you like them straight, skinny, boy-cut or bootleg, extra dark jeans are on every pair of legs in Hollywood. Always wash them inside-out so other clothes don’t rub against them and cause fading. Never spot treat (rubbing can cause discoloration) and always air dry away from direct sunlight.
  • Short Skirts, Mini-Dresses: This season is all about the mini and opaque tights are the perfect accessory. Keep your delicates looking like new by washing them in a separate mesh bag. If you don’t have a mesh bag handy, Carson recommends using a spare pillowcase fastened with a ponytail holder. Be sure to remove extra water with a towel, and never wring your delicates dry!
  • Romantic Blousy Tops: How poetic that one of this year’s biggest clothing loves is romantic tops! Flowy tops come in all fabrics and can easily wrinkle — especially when stashed in overflowing closets!  For a quick, iron-smooth clothing in a pinch, try popping clothes into the dryer with a clean, damp towel for a few minutes.

Starting on February 5, you can share your clothing love story on to help support ‘all’s donation to the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money for children’s charities by auctioning off today’s hottest celebrity attire. You could also win clothing care packages to take care of those special items or a $5,000 shopping spree!
