Love her or loathe her, "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Camille Grammer is back on television on Thursday, making fun of herself in a guest appearance on comedy "$#*! My Dad Says".
Grammer, the now ex-wife of former "Frasier" actor Kelsey Grammer, parodies herself on the season finale of the popular CBS comedy, appearing as a newly divorced reality TV star, called Camille, who is looking for a new house.
But which Camille do you get? The super-wealthy, self-absorbed "housewife" with four nannies and a stream in cutting remarks. Or the "real" Camille, which TV viewers have yet to see but which Grammer insists is very different.
Even Grammer, 42, a former dancer and Playboy model, had a difficult time choosing between the two for her comedy guest spot on "$#*! My Dad Says."
"I found it hard to play myself! I wondered, what self do they want? -- the 'Real Housewives' Camille or the at home Camille?," Grammer told Reuters.
"I guess I went for a little combo of both...It's funny. It lampoons the reality TV genre and the comedy stems from that."
Grammer said she was flattered when approached to appear on "$#*! My Dad Says" -- a Twitter-inspired comedy starring William Shatner as a grouchy father with an acid tongue.
The offer came soon after the January finale of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" in which Grammer was positioned as a villain during a time when her real-life, 13-year marriage fell apart. One episode included a scene where Grammer compared herself to Jesus Christ for helping her friends.
"You've got to make fun of yourself after my experience (on 'Real Housewives'). I am self-deprecating and humble and a little different from the person you see on the show," she laughed.
Grammer, who said she hadn't done much acting since before her marriage, also got to land a few jokes of her own in her guest role, and she credited 'Real Housewives' with opening up unexpected opportunities.
"It gave me a platform to speak and to have my voice heard and it opened doors...The only regret I have is that I felt like I wasn't portrayed accurately.
"I'm not self boasting. I'm a really good mom. This whole nanny thing -- they just kind of ran with it. I don't think the world is jealous of me. I just wish people were able to see a more rounded out person," Grammer said of the many misconceptions about her.
So is she ready to jump back into the "Housewives" fray? Grammer said nothing has yet been decided regarding a possible Season 2.
