More than 100 people have attended a funeral for Bollywood legend Dev Anand at a small chapel in London.

Pallbearers also had to push their way through reporters and fans bearing tribute banners as Anand's casket was then taken to the Putney Vale Crematorium in west London for cremation on Saturday.

Anand died of cardiac arrest in a hotel in the capital on Dec. 3 after traveling to the U.K. for a medical checkup. He was 88 years old.

Famed for his roles in dozens of movies, including "Jewel Thief" and "Guide," the veteran Indian actor, director and producer was working up to the last minute, with a new script in the works.

The film star's ashes will be returned to India for immersion burial in the Godavari river.
