Well, that's not very funny.

A 22-year old New Yorker named James Whittemore has been arrested for breaking into and trashing an entrance at the Ed Sullivan Theater, where the "Late Show with David Letterman" is currently filmed.

NBC New York reports that early Sunday morning Whittemore pried open a metal bar outside the historic theater's entrance; he allegedly smashed glass panels on the doors and overturned stanchions in the lobby.

Authorities believe Whittemore was intoxicated at the time.

"We were notified that NYPD apprehended an intruder who gained access and vandalized the lobby of the Ed Sullivan Theater this morning," CBS and Worldwide Pants said in a joint statement Sunday. "The Late Show's set was not accessed, however, and the show will be taping as usual tomorrow. We are grateful for the NYPD's quick and effective response."
