"Dancing With the Stars" busted out the "most memorable years" episode for its celebrity contenders Monday night, and lucky for Alfonso Ribeiro, his memorable years came with their own signature dance.
Ribeiro's performance of the famed "Carlton Dance," from his days on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," is exactly what fans have been waiting for since it was announced that the actor would be appearing on "DWTS." (The dance starts at 1:30 in the video).
"I have many most memorable years," Ribeiro said. "But the most significant years of my life would be the years on 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.' Carlton was someone that I had a blast playing for six years. It was a wonderful time in my life."
Ribeiro did admit that he thinks playing the character stunted his career as an actor because he was "pigeonholed" as Carlton. But the passing of time put his love for that period back in focus.
"I love the Carlton dance now. I love how it makes people feel," Ribeiro said. "I certainly don't do it a lot, but I love the fact that people have this nostalgic look at that dance."
With the signature Tom Jones song "It's Not Unusual" as their jazz dance track, Ribeiro and pro partner Whitney Carson made the crowd go wild.
Host Tom Bergeron said, "It was everything I hoped it would be!" And the judges agreed as they awarded a perfect score for the routine.
"I gotta be honest. This was all for the fans," Ribeiro said afterward. "I've been wanting to do this for them forever. This is a moment I've dreamed about many a (year). But yeah, I went back. I went back in time."
