Alec Baldwin's daughter laughs off infamous 'pig' voice mail

Alec Baldwin's public image plunged in 2007, after a voice mail in which he called his then 11-year-old daughter Ireland a "rude, thoughtless, little pig" was leaked to TMZ. Although the incident resulted in Baldwin briefly losing visitation rights with his daughter (who was living with his ex-wife Kim Basinger) the voicemail is something that Ireland, now 16, is able to laugh about.

"The only problem with that voice mail was that people made it out to be a way bigger deal than it was," Ireland tells Page Six magazine. "He's said stuff like that before just because he's frustrated.

"For me it was like, 'OK, whatever.' I called him back I was like, 'Sorry Dad, I didn’t have my phone.' That was it."

Ireland also said that she and her dad considered doing a comedy sketch pegged to the incident. "We almost did something funny on YouTube, of me calling him and yelling at him."

In June, Ireland participated in her father's wedding to yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas; Ireland says that she's grown close to the 28-year old, and views her as a big sister. "Hilaria and I are really close. She's like a big sister to me, but I feel like I haven't spent enough time with her yet. We have a lot more to learn about each other and we have a lot more experiences to have together. We joke around and I call her 'Mom.' But I respect her, it's not like I'm Parent Trap-ping her, setting up booby traps in her room."
