A turtle was found dangling from a tree in Oceanside attached to several bright balloons, according to authorities.

Chanelle Wright, who first saw the helpless turtle, called animal services to rescue it on the afternoon of Aug. 19 at the house of 4293 Humboldt Bay Way.

The San Diego Humane Society was able to free the reptile, but is now looking for the suspects who attached the helium inflated balloons to the animal.

Wright said they her fairly has been accused of tying up the turtle by a neighbor, but told NBC 7 San Diego that she isn't responsible for the act.

"The truth will prevail," she said. "I just hope the turtle gets to a good home."

The humane society confirmed they are in possession of the turtle, but did not allow photos of it as it is a evidence to a possible crime.
