83-year-old woman to meet siblings for first time ever thanks to crowdfunding

Eighty-three-year-old Cui Mei Chen may finally meet her estranged siblings living in Malaysia for the first time ever — thanks to a GoFundMe campaign set up by her children.

As NBC Bay Area News reports, Cui was separated from her family in China when she was only 5 years old. When Japan invaded China, Cui 's parents fled to Malaysia, leaving Cui and her sister behind with their grandmother. She would only see her mother one more time in her life, and never saw her father again.

Now living in San Francisco public housing, Cui only has about a dozen letters and black-and-white photos to remember her parents and siblings. If enough funds are raised, Cui will travel to Malaysia later this month.
