Talk about a royal pain.
A 6-year-old named Maisie had the opportunity to meet Queen Elizabeth II when Her Majesty visited Cardiff, Wales, for a military parade Thursday, but the adorable little girl's big moment was marred by an unfortunate mishap.
In a video posted on Twitter by Wales Online journalist Ruth Mosalski, Maisie can be seen curtsying for the queen and reverently presenting her with a colorful bouquet of flowers. But immediately after the queen turns to exit the room, a saluting guard accidentally slaps her head.
According to Mosalski, the queen didn't notice — but the soldier was quick to apologize to Maisie and her mother, Ruth Gregory, the wife of Regimental Sergeant Major Martin Gregory.
At least Maisie will have a good story to tell for years to come.
