Spas are one of the fastest growing segments of the travel industry -- virtually every hotel and resort claims to have one. “Today” travel editor, Peter Greenberg, has a report on some spas that truly redefine the words "feel good."

The Jeremy Todd Wellness Spa and Salon treats these women to complimentary cutting and styling as well as information on how to care for their wigs. For donations:

Preston Wynne SpaLocation: Saratoga, CA
Customers of the spa (or any interested party) can "sponsor" a guest or guests from Next Door, a Santa Clara non-profit that provides critical services and shelter for victims of domestic violence. The basic sponsorship is just $25. Preston Wynne then subsidizes the rest of the expense for the services, which normally bill at $85-90 per hour session. For donations:

JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa
Location: Koplei, Hawaii
In October 2002, the spa welcomed 17 women and 15 children from Oahu shelters for domestic abuse victims. These women, chosen by the shelters, were selected because they were ready to transition back into society. After closing the spa early, the Ihilani spa donated is facilities and resources, and 13 spa associates volunteered their time to perform treatments and services such as manicures, pedicures, facials, body wraps, hair treatments and make-up tips on the women, while the children were taken to the hotel's Keiki Beachcomber Club for some fun activities, hot dogs and pizza. The women were allowed to choose as many services as they could fit within the 4-hour time period. When they weren't being pampered, the women dined on finger sandwiches and a selection of fruits and vegetables. The Ihilani spa plans on continuing this program annually.

Murad SpaLocation: Los Angeles, CA
Dr. Howard Murad, dermatologist and owner of Murad spa in Los Angeles, CA has an outreach program. One day per month, since 1972, Dr. Murad volunteers his time at Vista Del Mar, a group home in Culver City, CA for troubled teens between the ages of 14 and 18, seeing as many as 30 teens in one morning. Here he diagnoses and treats the specific problems these teens are having with their skin, and also takes the time to learn a bit about their lives. Vista Del Mar has limited medical equipment on their premises, so it is not uncommon for Dr. Murad to bring them to his El Segundo practice. Whether they need a mole or tattoo removed, or problem skin treated, Dr. Murad will work his magic and send them on their way with products and treatments at no charge. For donations:

Skin Deep SpaLocation: Vail, CO
Skin Deep Spa works with a hospital in the area to offer cancer patients complimentary skin care, nail care, and body treatments. Patients are encouraged to seek spa treatments on a monthly basis.
