Many people joke that relationships aren't official until they're Facebook official, but we doubt that anyone was concerned about the quality of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's love life despite the fact that his longterm romance with his college sweetheart Priscilla Chan wasn't noted on the social network until last week.

Forbes' Kashmir Hill reports that the 26-year-old billionaire updated his Facebook relationship status on Sunday and posted a comment remarking that the switch was “slightly overdue.”

This change came shortly after Zuckerberg and Chan set up a Facebook page for Beast, the puppy they purchased together.

It's curious to see that Facebook's founder is gradually revealing more details about his life on the site — despite recently having dealt with a stalker — but we suppose it fits with the general philosophy of Facebook's open nature. Then again — as Hill muses— the reason behind Zuckerberg's desire to reveal more about his personal affairs could have nothing to do with privacy settings or his company:

On a personal note, I’ve noticed that friends on Facebook who have been dating for years who suddenly make a change to reveal they are in a relationship often follow that up soon thereafter with an “engagement” announcement.
