'All by himself' in Las Vegas airport, man makes hilarious music video

Richard Dunn used his iPhone to capture himself lip-synching his heart out late at night in the Las Vegas airport.

He was all alone. He had several hours to kill in Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport. And that’s when comedic inspiration hit.

While waiting overnight to board a 6 a.m. Delta flight, Richard Dunn realized that the vast, deserted airport could serve as an empty movie set. So he did what any bored/techie/funny guy might do: He made a sweeping, cinematic music video while lip-synching Celine Dion’s “All By Myself.”

The video, posted earlier this week, is hilarious — in large part because of Dunn’s mad lip-synching skills, and also because of his spot-on editing. Dunn, a lighting designer for corporate events who lives outside Atlanta, Georgia, explained how he made the video in an interview with CBC/Radio-Canada. He also shared some of his secrets in response to comments posted by the video’s fans.

“I had a person behind a ticket counter give me a roll of luggage tape before she left,” Dunn wrote. “I then used a wheel chair that had a tall pole on the back of it and taped my iPhone to that. Then I would put it on the moving walkway for a dolly shot. I also used the extended handle on my computer bag and taped the iPhone to my handle.”

Based on the comments about the video, Dunn’s fan base is growing by the minute:

"Do more! Works really well! ;)"

"Exceptional! I laughed... I cried..."

"Awesome!!!!!! Your creativity score just doubled."
