This upcoming Labor Day weekend is an opportunity to take advantage of major liquidation sales at Sears and Kmart locations around the country.
Sears Holdings, which owns Sears and Kmart, has released a list of 46 stores — 33 Sears locations and 13 Kmarts — across 28 states that are slated to close in November.
The embattled company announced that liquidation sales began as early as Thursday at some locations, but did not release specific details about the discounts that will be offered.
The store closings are the latest round of cuts for Sears, which was once the biggest retailer in America. It has continued to close unprofitable locations, going from about 4,000 stores in 2011 to 894 as of May.
Sears announced in the spring that it was closing 100 more locations, including 72 "in the near future," 46 of which are the locations released this week.
The retailer is one of many iconic stores that is struggling to compete against giants like Amazon and Walmart, with Toys R Us being the latest casualty after closing for good in June.
