Who did it better? Two homes battle it out for best Halloween light show

Two different homes get into the Halloween spirit with their popular music and light shows. Who did it better?

Halloween is less than a week away, and we’re all gearing up and getting our homes ready for trick-or-treaters. But there are a few houses across the country that really go above and beyond.

Below, see two homes that are in an unofficial battle for the coolest Halloween display this year. Using well-timed lights and fun music, each owner came up with a jaw-dropping production that makes it easy to get into the spirit of the holiday, and the results are scary good. (See what we did there?)

1. “Time Warp” from the Rocky Horror Picture Show

Professional lighting designer Kevin Judd has been creating his famous Halloween light show for years — this will be his eighth one. This year’s production uses 400,000 LED lights as seven songs blast over loudspeakers, according to Curbed.

One of the displays to the Rocky Horror Picture Show’s “Time Warp” has been going viral. Spooky pumpkins appear to be singing all the words, and there are also two flat screens that display the words karaoke-style, you know, just in case the crowd wants to sing along with the flick.

2. “Heathens” by Twenty One Pilots

Brandon Bullis of Leesburg, VA, has also been creating a Halloween light show for years. (See his 2015 production of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Downtown.”) This year, to create his display with the Twenty One Pilots song “Heathens,” he used over 8,500 lights and many thousands of channels of computer animation, according to the video description. Those who want to see the show can tune into their car's FM radio to "hear the lights” since no music is broadcast outside so as to not disturb the neighbors. Watch the video.
