'Fixer Upper' star Chip Gaines shuts down divorce rumors

As public figures, "Fixer Upper" stars Chip and Joanna Gaines surely know that the rumor mill will keep on turning no matter what they do.

But that doesn't mean they have to like it. On Friday, Chip seized the opportunity to squash any rumor that the couple might be splitting.

"I'm so sick of these 'stories' claiming @joannagaines and @chippergaines breaking up," a fan wrote on Twitter. "Leave this couple alone they are wonderful together."

Chip agrees, if he does say so himself. "Won't ever happen.. you can take that to the bank!" he wrote in response, adding the hashtag #loveOfMyLife.

So yes, the two are very much in love. But that doesn't mean it's always been easy. The couple told People magazine earlier this year that "hard work" is the secret ingredient to keeping their marriage strong despite four kids, a hit TV show and multiple book deals.

"Marriage requires effort and time and talking and connecting," Joanna told the magazine. "You have to maintain it."

For them, that means not just accepting, but celebrating their differences. As anyone who's seen "Fixer Upper" knows, their distinct personalities balance each other marvelously, helping them achieve more together than they would apart.

"If I didn't have Chip Gaines in my life, I'd still be dreaming in my head," Joanna said in a short film for "I am Second." "But not acting out on any of that, not living it out."

Chip echoed her appreciation, saying, "When I caught her, I finally felt content for the first time in my life ... I felt like I could be exactly who I was."

While the couple has said they "work best side by side," they don't hesitate to gently call each other out when necessary. "Sometimes Chip will have to give me little daily reminders, like not to sweat the small stuff, and I’m the one who is usually reminding him to sit down and take a quick break," Joanna revealed in a blog post for Magnoliamarket.com.

Sounds like the only thing that needs a "Fixer Upper" here is the rumor mill!
