If beauty truly comes from within, then the foods we eat can either wreck havoc on our skin or give us a glowing, clear complexion. That's why NBC medical correspondent Dr. Natalie Azar is busting myths on foods, so you can put your best face forward.

1. Eating fatty foods leads to bad skin

Wrong. Gorging on chips may cause a pimple or two, but research shows healthy fats, such as omega-3 fatty acids, may fight breakouts, dryness and, possibly, sun damage.

2. Dairy causes acne

Maybe. Hormones in milk may stimulate oil in our skin. But there’s not a clear cause and effect. Still, if you cut out cow’s milk, you need to replace the nutrients in your diet, especially protein.
