You’ve probably heard this health tip before: drink plenty of water. It seems so basic, yet many overlook one of the simplest ways to feel and look our best. Getting enough H20 boosts energy levels, regulates appetite, keeps skin looking healthy and balances your metabolism!
Are you reaching for that water bottle yet?
Drinking enough water is far from having a few sips here or there — we need to drink at least half our body weight in ounces each day. For example, someone who weighs 150 pounds should be drinking 75 ounces of water over the span of 24 hours. It's totally doable! Here are a few of our favorite ways to stay hydrated.
Make your own spa-inspired water.
Every couple of days we fill a large pitcher of water with mint, lemon slices, cucumber and whatever seasonal fruit we have on hand.
We keep it in the fridge to enjoy throughout the day. It tastes amazing and it's also a great way to get vitamins and electrolytes to boot!
Bring water with you on the go!
We all tend to forget about drinking water during hectic days or while running tons of errands. Avoid this by ensuring you always have water on hand.
Simply toss a water bottle in your purse before you head out.
Jazz it up with flavored water.
Herbal teas, sparkling water and even fresh veggie juices count toward your daily water intake. We love sparkling water with lemon at lunch! Of course, always keep sugar intake in mind, especially with juices.
And remember that this doesn’t apply to caffeinated beverages like coffee or black tea since caffeine can have a dehydrating effect on the body. This doesn't mean we skip our morning espresso, we just have water with it as well!
