The guys from SORTEDFood have landed in America, and they’re hungry for your advice on where to eat. The U.K.-based food enthusiasts behind SORTEDfood, Mike, Ben, Jamie and Barry, are ready to be schooled on the wild world of American cuisine, and they’re teaming up with TODAY to do it.
Last week, they asked you to tell them what their first iconic American meal should be, and, no surprise, you picked barbecue.
So Thursday, they ate their way through four regional takes on barbecue on TODAY. Friday, they start their coast-to-coast journey through the U.S. from Los Angeles. While in L.A., they need to know what to eat. So far, viewers have decided that they need to try Korean BBQ or tacos – so it’s up to you to decide with #LostandHungry!
You’ll be able to follow every step of the way, and help guide their travels, by following #LostandHungry on Twitter and Instagram as well as get info on their blog, Snapchat (sortedfood) and Facebook. TODAY will also feature weekly check-ins to see how the guys are doing, what interesting food they’ve come across, as well as the quirky characters that make America’s food landscape, well, awesome.
As the team itself puts it, "Everything we do on this trip is about giving you guys a voice. This adventure is going to be the biggest thing we've ever done and we're going to need a lot of help! If you're a local please tell us the best places to eat - the must visit foodie destinations in your town."
The tour follows a set of rules, among which include the following:
1.They go to a location with no idea of what to eat or where to go to eat it.
2.The guys complete challenges in order to win treats. Who completes which challenges? You decide!
3.If the guys fail a challenge, you decide the punishment.
4.If at any time they want to eat, they must ask you what and where we eat.
5.From now on, whenever you see the #LostandHungry tag anywhere, you're in total control. You decide what they’re doing and where!
As for the rest of the stops on the tour, those are to be decided as the team receives submissions as they come in-and while it's all happening.
