Forget the book club. Oprah Winfrey just joined the cauliflower club. And cheese, sauce and toppings are all coming to the party.
O, That's Good!, Oprah's food line with Kraft Heinz, announced Wednesday that it added a line of four, frozen cauliflower-crust pizzas to its existing lineup of soups and sides. The pizzas, available at most grocery stores nationwide and on Amazon, come in pepperoni, five cheese, supreme and fire roasted veggie flavors. Each costs $7.
"Pizza is a favorite, fun and easy food to share with family and friends,” Oprah said in a statement. “I am always looking to add a nutritious twist to my foods, so we made part of the crust in my new pizza with cauliflower while maintaining that classic, cheesy pizza flavor you and your family love.”
"Bet y’all didn’t know I had hidden pizza talents! Been taste testing a lot of pizzas to get this just right," The crust is made with a twist of cauliflower but if I hadn’t told ya you’d never know," she posted on Instagram, before devouring a slice of her new pie.
While Oprah's food line has already turned mashed-potato enthusiasts into mashed-cauliflower fans, her pizzas are now getting the thumbs ups on Twitter.
Hopes of a classic Oprah giveaway have been thrown into the mix, too.
The pizzas still contain wheat flour, but throw one-third of a cauliflower into the dough mix. The five cheese pizza has 330 calories, 15 grams of protein, 39 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of sugar and 4 grams of fiber in one slice (which is about 1/5 of the pie).
Milton's Craft Bakers, another cauliflower-crusted pizza which is available at Costco, has 250 calories, 14 grams of protein, 26 grams of carbohydrates, 5 grams of sugar and 2 grams of fiber in a slice of Margherita pizza.
Caulipower Margherita Pizza contains 330 calories, 12 grams of protein, 37 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of sugar and 3 grams of fiber in one slice.
If you're still not quite sure about substituting cauliflower for your favorite grains, just ask Mila Kunis. The actress and her husband, Ashton Kutcher, are also huge fans of cauliflower rice!
