As a cookbook author and editor of “Saveur” magazine, Colman Andrews is usually busy making sophisticated dishes. But for Father’s Day his 12 and 9-year-old daughters, Maddy and Isabelle, are wearing the chef hats to create a special meal. Check out the recipes below.
MADDY’S AND IZZY’S SPECIAL PIZZA Colman Andrews
To make 1 12-14” pizza
Preheat oven to highest setting (500 to 550 degrees). On a floured surface, roll out dough with a floured rolling pin. Dust your hands with flour, then stretch out the edges of the dough a bit more.
Lightly oil a 12-14” shallow pan (a paella pan is perfect), then put dough in pan. Spread pizza sauce evenly over surfact of dough, the sprinkle with half the yellow cheddar. Arrange mozzarella disks, potato slices, and chicken pieces on surfact of pizza. Sprinkle bacon over the whole surface, then sprinkle remaining yellow cheddar over everything. Salt lightly.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crust is done and just beginning to blacken in spots and toppings are thoroughly melted and beginning to brown.

MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE CREAM Colman Andrews
almost 1 quart
In a small saucepan over low heat, beat together eggs, half-and-half, and sugar until think and yellow. Cool in a refrigerator for 2-3 hours. Stir in vanilla, mint extract, and chocolate chips, then process according to manufacturer’s instructions in an ice cream machine.
