Here's how to make Frito pie, Tamron Hall's favorite football snack

/ Source: TODAY

All this week, our anchors have taken turns talking about their favorite autumn activities in a new special series called "My Favorite Fall Pastime." For her turn, Tamron Hall reports on her love of football.

"Listen, I'm a Texan," she says. "In my family, if it's fall, it's football."

And with football season comes a quintessential game-day snack: Frito pie.

MC Suhocki / TODAY

"Fall has such a beautiful, crisp smell. I think about being out at a football game and having a nice blanket," she says. "In Texas, we do hot cocoa and Frito pie. It's a bag of Frito chips, you cut off the top, pour chili inside with shredded cheese and onions."

Here's a quick step-by-step guide on how to make a version at home — the best part is you can mix-and-match the toppings and tailor it to your liking:

  • Use scissors to open one end of an individual bag of Frito’s Original Corn Chips.
  • Add to the bag a couple of large spoonfuls warm chili. (Try our copycat of Wendy's beloved chili!)
  • Add toppings as desired: shredded cheese, scallions, sour cream, avocado, tomatoes, sliced jalapenos, etc.
  • Stir with a spoon and enjoy.
