Dylan Dreyer, meteorologist and 3rd Hour of TODAY co-host, is sharing a few of the easy oatmeal recipes she's been making at home while in quarantine. She shows us how to make apple-cinnamon oatmeal, blueberry-vanilla "purple" oatmeal and oatmeal-banana balls with chocolate chips.

Oatmeal is such an easy breakfast but obviously the packets are full of sugar. I just kept thinking I can easily make this with even more of the things I love — chunks of apple or blueberries — and I can make a big batch that’ll last me all week.

This was the first homemade oatmeal I tried and Calvin loved it! When I made Calvin’s homemade baby food, I used to roast apples and bananas with a sprinkle of cinnamon and purée it together. I’d repurpose that purée to sweeten up plain Greek yogurt. Then I thought it could also be a good base for oatmeal, and I added raisins because, why not?

I had a big container of blueberries that I needed to use up. I've always liked making compotes with different berries and I thought I could make a compote with blueberries, add some vanilla and cinnamon, and use that as a base for oatmeal. When it turned out bright purple, Calvin got very excited, and “purple oatmeal” became a thing!

I’m always looking for healthy snacks for Calvin. It’s so easy to get into a processed-food rut with grab-an- go snacks. This involves three easy ingredients, two of which are healthy, and the chocolate chips make it exciting for Calvin — he thinks he’s getting a special “sweet” snack!
