Vanessa Carlton and Deer Tick singer-guitarist John McCauley tied the knot on Friday, in a ceremony officiated by none other than Stevie Nicks. Carlton shared the news on Twitter with a photo of the outdoor ceremony, along with the note to the Fleetwood Mac singer: "Thanks Stevie for marrying us!"
McCauley and Carlton met through their mutual friend, Patrick Hallahan of My Morning Jacket, who played drums on Carlton's 2011 album "Rabbits on the Run." While on tour this past fall, Carlton announced that she was pregnant. However, in early November, she revealed on Facebook that she had suffered dangerous complications from what turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy, and was forced to cancel the tour.
Deer Tick lament the road in "Trash" — song premiere
Deer Tick released their fifth album Negativity this past September, which features McCauley and Carlton joining forces on the track "In Our Time." In an interview with Rolling Stone last April, McCauley talked about working with Carlton. "We started trying to write something together, and it just really wasn't working, but I had this song, and I thought it would work well as a duet," McCauley says. "We kind of became really close friends pretty quick. She's a wonderful singer."
