New details have emerged in the death of Leslie Ashton, the sister of pop stars Nick and Aaron Carter.

Ginger Carter, Leslie’s stepmother, and Leslie’s father, Robert Carter, told authorities the aspiring singer had a history of mental illness and was on medication for depression, the report noted.

Medicines found at the scene by authorities included Olanzapine (used to treat a variety of mental illness conditions including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and manic depression), Cyclobenzaprine (a muscle relaxant) and Alprazolam (used for anxiety).

The day of her death, Ginger said Leslie seemed depressed, and had asked Ginger to look after her 10-month-old son, because she wasn’t feeling well.

According to the incident report, Ginger told authorities that Leslie fell in the shower and had to be helped back to her bedroom.

Later the same afternoon, the couple found Leslie not breathing. Ginger called 911 and Robert attempted to perform CPR on his daughter.

Ginger herself “appeared to be under the influence of an unknown drug” when interviewed by authorities, the report stated.

The stepmother reportedly told authorities “she took 5-6 pills for her depression,” and an officer felt Ginger may have been “overdosing on her medication.”

Ginger reportedly told the authorities she was only supposed to take 4 pills, but Robert “gave her an extra one because of Leslie passing away.”

Ginger was also taken to the hospital.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Leslie died on Tuesday in upstate New York.

“Our family is grieving right now and it’s a private matter. We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter,” the Carter family said in a statement to Access on Tuesday night. “We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time.”
