Grammy-nominated musician Sara Bareilles is a busy woman, what with a tour coming up and scoring a musical, but she's not too busy to help ailing children.

Bareilles has teamed up with TODAY's Hoda Kotb and pop star Cyndi Lauper as part of our Shine a Light series to raise money for the American Cancer Society and awareness of children battling cancer.

"It was a no-brainer," Bareilles said while discussing the project on TODAY Monday. "Not only to team up with someone like Cyndi Lauper, but to do it for this kind of a cause. ... It was a very quick yes."

The singer will work with Lauper to mash up two of their hit songs, "Brave" and "True Colors." They'll also create a music video featuring children with cancer for the combined tune, which will debut on TODAY, and includes a concert on the Plaza. And if putting the two songs together seems odd, even Bareilles admits she's not sure how it will work.

"I don't know yet!" the singer said. "To be determined!"
