Hermione Grainger's wild, curly hair had a life of its own, and in real life, Emma Watson's tresses have garnered even more attention.
So when the 21-year-old chopped off her long, luscious locks in 2010, the world was transfixed by her drastic, new pixie cut. Some people loved it, some people hated it, and some people apparently thought it was a statement about her sexuality.
"I had journalists asking me if [my haircut] meant I was coming out, if I was a lesbian now," Watson told The Independent, rolling her eyes. "That haircut did make me realize how subjective everyone's opinion is. Some people were crazy for it and some people just thought I'd lost my s---."
So what did she learn from the experience? "All I can do is follow my instincts because I'll never please everyone," she said.
For her part, the former "Harry Potter" star is pleased with her trimmed-down tresses. "As I've got older, and since I cut all my hair off, I've felt a bit more liberated about trying different things out," she said.
Somehow, we think this fashion-forward starlet could pull off just about any look.
