Living separately: Nick Cannon admits 'trouble in paradise' with Mariah Carey

Editor's note/update: In a series of tweets on Sept. 3, Nick Cannon responded to reports of his alleged split with Mariah Carey. Find that story here.

Recent reports of problems between Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon have been confirmed by Cannon himself.

The "America's Got Talent" host recently spoke out amid rumors of impending divorce for the pair, but he came short of saying the marriage is over.

“There is trouble in paradise," he told "The Insider With Yahoo" Thursday. "We have been living in separate houses for a few months.”

While Cannon didn't reveal the reason behind the break, he denied claims that it was related to infidelity. He also said that "dem babies," aka their 3-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan, are where his thoughts are now.

“My main focus is my kids," he said.

When Cannon last spoke about his relationship with Carey, he had a very different response to reports of relationship woes.

"There’s no merit or truth to it," he told Parade in May. "It’s kind of humorous, really. It couldn’t be further off from the truth, and it really affects the credibility of the so-called newspapers."

In fact, it wasn't until June when Carey, who's active on social media, posted her last Instagram photo featuring Cannon, in which she wished him a happy Father's Day.

Thus far Carey's remained publicly silent on what Cannon called their "rough patch." Her rep did tell "The Insider," "I am not commenting on Mariah's personal life but Mariah is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour."

Cannon and Carey married in 2008.
