Willie Geist, of msnbc's “Morning Joe” and "Way Too Early" fame, will co-anchor the 9 a.m. hour of TODAY.
"I'm thrilled," he said this morning. "I was thinking coming over here [about] 60 years of TODAY show history going back to Dave Garroway. And to be some small part of that is completely humbling."
The host of msnbc's "Morning Joe" and "Way Too Early" became co-anchor of the 9 a.m. hour of TODAY.
Willie is a familiar face around TODAY. He's been a guest host on Kathie Lee and Hoda and filled in for other anchors.
In that time, we’ve learned a lot about him. He’s man enough to admit liking “girlie” cocktails and his ideal last meal would include Chili's Southwestern egg roll.
"We are thrilled to add Willie to the TODAY team," said executive producer Jim Bell. "He brings a solid news background with a keen sense of creativity and humor. From politics to pop culture, Willie is a skilled and versatile reporter who will make a great addition at 9 a.m. and contribute to the entire broadcast."
His first day as 9 a.m. co-host is Nov. 12. Welcome Willie aboard in the comments!
