Natalie and our stage manager Dave both fell in love with Zara the dog, who was on the set for an upcoming segment.

"A steel-cage match is about to go down," Al said.

Both made their case: Natalie said she didn't own a dog and her kids would "love her," while Dave said it would help keep his other pup company.

"I grew up with dogs," added Natalie later. "I picked my own dog out of a litter when I was four, and Duke (my Sheltie) ended up being my best friend through many, many moves and changes of schools (as an Air Force brat). I have been waiting for my kids to ask, and they have started asking. I also have been waiting to have some stability in my work schedule...I want my kids to know what that bond is like and the love between people and their pets. That said, I just have to convince my husband. Either way, I know Zara will find a loving home. The North Shore Animal League saved her life once before. They found her at a kill shelter in Georgia and she was about to be put down. So, I know they were put her in the best possible home if we can adopt her."

Tongue in cheek, Al threw the decision to the TODAY audience -- asking you to vote on who should take the prize. "Who does Zara like more?" Al asked.

It's not binding, of course, but let us know in the vote below! And for more information about how to help or adopt the dogs featured on TODAY, head to North Shore Animal League.
