1. The one and only Mariah Carey kicked off this summer's Toyota Concert Series on the plaza Friday morning. Carey performed classics (“Always Be My Baby,” anyone?) as well as tunes from her latest album, "Me. I Am Mariah ... The Elusive Chanteuse."

2. An Ohio kindergarten teacher is suspended after surveillance video showed her allegedly grabbing and shaking a 6-year-old student. Through tears, the boy's mother called for the educator's firing.

3. Hot off the heels of “Breaking Bad,” Bryan Cranston is headed to the big screen to star in “Godzilla” — a movie he reveals he wasn’t quite sure about.

4. Twenty-nine women icons in journalism gathered Wednesday to honor the career of Barbara Walters as she prepared to formally retire.

“This is her legacy,” TODAY's Tamron Hall, who was one of the 29, said Friday.

5. A Michigan mom who lost her daughter to a deadly meningitis infection is leading students from the U.S. to Canada, where they’ll get a vaccine not yet approved here.

“I feel like I’m giving them such a gift,” Alicia Stillman said. “I tell them, ‘I’m so honored to be able to help you protect your family in a way that I could not protect my daughter.’”
