Alex Ficquette, better know to his TODAY family as Alex on the Plaza, works every weekday morning to entertain (and tame!) the many who line up on Rockefeller Plaza to catch a glimpse of the broadcast. He recently teamed up with amNewYork's Melissa Kravitz to share what they love most about the Big Apple — besides the plaza, that is!
What’s one of my favorite things to do on the plaza? Believe it or not, planning people’s days in New York City! It’s probably the most common question I’m asked…“What should we do next?!” And I can totally relate. I first fell in love with New York nearly 15 years ago while visiting with my mom, standing on the TODAY plaza and wondering exactly that…What do we do next? Where do the locals go?!
Well fast forward to now, and I’m actually one of those lucky locals (yes, I still pinch myself!). I’ve lived in New York for close to eight years, and during that time, I’ve had five different apartments all over the city. I even made the jump from Manhattan to Brooklyn a couple of years ago!
So what’s my best advice to experience NYC? Get out and see all the different neighborhoods! Each is so unique and has its own feel, along with its own hidden gems.
